It is always a huge search for digital tools that can be used by students at a beginner level. But luckily Stop Motion Studio App is such an application. It is a smartphone app and video tool in one to make your own stop motion videos. Parenting in digital times

Adult migrants are often also parents. And like all other parents, they rarely understand why their children find vlogs and video games so attractive. So we took them on a journey of commonly used apps and social media. In our workshop the students practiced different digital skills through questions, activities and challenges and they came up with ideas for rules about screen time in their home.

Calepino a new audio-visual dictionary App

The workshop aims to help refugees to create their personal audio-visual dictionary thanks to a specific app developed from Zaffiria. The workshop was conducted by Fo.Co. Network in Sicily. With the app Calepino, students can take a photo, register sound and write new words. A personal or specific dictionary can be created with their personal mobile phone all the day long. With this tool, students designed a common visual dictionary on the LDAs (Learning Didactic Unit) teachers were developing.

Calepino is available for free in the App Store (for iOS) and in the Play Store (for Android’s systems).

My Worlds, My Pictures

The workshop aims to discover new words exploring newspaper and pictures. From a newspaper text, students choose attractive words with the idea to discover new meanings and to compose new sentences to express feelings and ideas or impressions. The final step is the realization of an external workshop, where refugees and citizens can paint together starting from newspaper pictures chosen by the migrant students.
